As there is lot of different info about RF on GW690II and GW690III respectively on later model. So can someone confirm that GW69 III has new style RF or no, like GSW has.

Speculation thread - http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118923

Also can someone please describe differences between both types of Fuji RF (spots or what they are called) for someone like me who has never used RF camera.

Why are you so worried about it? I have a GW690 and the rangefinder works great. I have never had an issue focusing in any light.

The original GW rangefinder has a fuzzy-edged round spot for focusing where you need to match-up the see-through image in the spot with the image in the rest of the viewfinder. If the -SW version does have a vernier/Lecia-style RF then instead of a round spot it will be a square or rectangular patch with very sharply defined edges, suitable for matching-up vertical lines/edges across the patch as well as focusing in the usual manner. I realize this is a very poor description so here are a couple of links:

This does not show the -SW finder, but it (maybe) ought to look like the one depicted in the Leica M6 manual:

Hope this helps. Though, as divewizard says, even the original finder works just fine, and the firm throw on the lens barrel help to give a feeling of precision. However, like all rangefinders, and unlike SLRs, you have to get used to focusing with your eye in the right place relative to the VF window (and holding the camera correctly) or you might see some strange things and think the RF is out of alignment when it's not (this is also easier seen than described)

Scott

my gw690iii had a round spot without a very defined border.

I'm not a fan of that and prefer the hard edge of the Leicas and (in the right format) the Mamiya 7. However 2:3 is a fantastic format and offers a ton of real estate so I think that outweighs the viewfinder which is certainly good enough.

35mm and 6x9 both utilize a 2:3 ratio of height to width. It is the area of the film for 6x9, not the ratio, that offers the advantage over 35mm.

Really ? I didn't know that.

I don't know about this fuzzy wuzzy stuff.
I just lineup the two images and the pics come out good.

A guy on photo.net commented that his GW690II viewfinder has a blue color cast. I never noticed that until he mentioned it. I shoot B&W filum so I guess it doesn't matter for me.

I have used for a short while both the II and III versions.
No RF difference there.
personally, I would take the II over the III any day because of the finish.

Agreed on all accounts. The GW690II is easy to focus, and tack sharp. The finish on the II is preferable to me as well because it's just hard plastic and metal - no rubber grip to disintegrate over time.
