Calling all Bostoners (are there any around here?): I will be in Boston MA for a couple of days in October, and reckon that my lust for a Yashica Electro 35 in good working condition will _not_ be gone by then. Any shopping hints? Is there a dealer I should see? Cheers Gerold

These places were recommended to me, but I did not make it to either so I cannot share first hand knowledge.

New England Photo in Arlington and Jimmy at APC Camera

I was in Boston last week, but I was too busy and too flummoxed by lack of parking to be able to visit any camera stores.

Before I went, I acquired a list of recommended stores from Photo-Net. However, I also spotted a very interesting looking camera store on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge about 3/4 of the way from MIT to Harvard. Can't remember the name, but it was on the left side going North. There's no parking there to speak of, but it is only a block or twoo of the "T" red line.

The two best dealerships in the greater Boston area are EP Levine (www.cameras.com) and Newtonville Camera (web site not worth viewing). You will be able to determine from their web site whether Levine's has the item you want.

Call Mike Bard (manager) at Newtonville 1-800-734-9992 to ask. Mike is a great guy and will cut you a deal any day of the week. And that goes for Leica too! (I'm not connected with either dealer, just a customer of both.)

Great tips - thanks to all of you for this. I'll keep you posted with any RF shopping successes.
Cheers - Gerold

Thanks rover - business will be followed by vacation - so expect some photos from New England anytime after October. Cheers.

I should be a great time to be here, and you will find lots to do in and around Boston.

E.P. Levines is a very interestring place to visit. I should be down at Levines next week, and if so I'll check and see what they have in the way of Yashicas, or any other classic rangefingers, and report back here.

Sfaust - going there is good, reporting back would be even better - BUT if you eventually see one neat Yashica giving you nice looks - walk. Don't buy. Let it sit there - I'll drop in soon ... :)

Well, I didn't make it as planned this week, but hopefully the beginning of next week. I have a 300mm 2.8 that I need to have repaired, and it can't wait too long, so I'll most likely get there before you do.

I'll have them set it aside in a dark corner for you if they have one, just so no one scoops it before you get a chance to look at it. But a quick check on their web site shows nothing in stock. Then again, I've been there! Lots of nooks and crannys for items to hide :)

Which model Electro are you looking for? I'm looking for a 35CCN or GX.

Just noticed a newly listed Electro 35 being sold with a Buy It Now price of $25 on eBay. Just thought I would mention it since I know you are looking for one.
