I use it in one photo the Canonet GIII 17. I dont see many differences between the shot taken with the canonet, and the shot taken with the Leica...

One was taken with a zorki and an industar 22 lens, the other with a bessa and a jupiter 3 (not a terribly expensive set up in the scheme of things).

/me raises her hand. 🙂

Both of the photos I submitted were done with the Mamiya SD, although different ones and 30 years apart. Both of them were under $100, even when you count the 2 of them that I used to fix up the current one I have.

Come to think of it, now that you mention it, I've never paid more than $200-something for any single camera, ever. I've bought lenses and accessories and stuff, but when you look at the prices for some of the cameras that are selling now, the DSLRs and even the current Leicas, I'm getting a lot of bang for the buck so to speak. 🙂

... for the buck..

that's what I'm thinking too. It is interesting to see some of the shots that have been produced by 'affordable glass'. One member submitted a pair of exceptional shots that were taken on a sub 100$ camera. It actually was the impetus for this thread.

We are going to make an equation:

If I buy an expensive pen, I can write a better novels/poems... that If I buy the cheaper pen.
If I buy an expensive lens. I can do better photos that If I buy one cheaper lens.

Better what is better?

Better eye, better words, better feelings, better ... better...

Every day I think more and more about Photography, and I try to understand me and others...

I never arrive at anything, only that the money and the appearance often go united, but the talent, the great ideas, the enthusiasm are incalculable in value and dimension.

It is necessary to undress more the intentions, and be able to be unique.

I used a Konica C35 Automatic for one of my submissions which I purchased for well under $50 US dollars. I love that little Hexanon lens; it's very close to the sharpness of my Color Skopar and has outstanding contrast.

I used a FED2 for both my shots in this book (same as the last book 🙂 ), it cost me $29. The J-12 and finder combo was $49... So $78 all up 😎

Both my shots for the 2nd book come from the Bessa-T and the 35 Skopar, not exactly 'cheap' but more or less on the line.

On last book one of the shots came from the Canonet, and it's still one of my favorite shots ever.

It's all about how much use you give to something, for some people that's a Kiev (I have another favorite from one), a Holga, a Lubitel (another fav.) or a Bessa but some people just use mainly their Canon or Leica or etc hence they are their most used cameras.

And that pretty much sums what I wanted to say 🙂

I only HAVE one working RF (at the moment), Pherdinand's Yashica GSN (€35, if I remember rightly) so that's what my contributions were shot with...
The "cheap-camera" shots in Book One were inspirational; I'm sure the ones in Book Two will be too.

Quite a few as you see. I will guess, though I haven't counted, that there will be more non-Leica shots in our book than those taken with Leica cameras.

Both my submissions for book 2 were taken with an inexpensive Olympus XA. I honestly don't think there's much correlation between the cost of the camera and the work produced. I have a Leica now, and *love* it, but it doesn't make me a better photographer, however much I'd like to think it does 😀

Damn! I shot mine with probably the most expensive rf around! Silly me. 😛
