Cool!! Now is the time to plan another great meeting!!
As Mr. Lee said...kully we need you..who else can carry over his hear a 5L bottle of the cheapest red wine..through florence downtown!?

I really don't have a clear preferences..London, istambul, Lisbon, prague will be fun!

But I keep thinking about what Phantomas said...

What is the street-shooting situation in Amsterdam? Are people cool? Only been there once and if it is full of people like I was then... eeek!

People are pretty cool with being photographed. It is very unlikely that you'll be hastled for shooting by any "authorities" or private persons. People are friendly and if you make a small chat you can shoot anyone. They'll be attracted to your peculiar cameras as well, so that helps.
But yes, unfortunatelly it's packed with people, but if you're into street shooting that's not an issue, right?
If anyone's interested, check out my set to see what you can get in this city. I'm not a particularly good photographer and these are just random shots, but you'll get an idea.
And I'm serious, I can let 2 people stay at my place, comfortably. Plus there are other RFFers around to keep you company and show you around.

Amsterdam and London would certainly get my vote too - I owe Simon a London priced beer or two as I couldn't meet up earlier this year - but I'll be happy pretty much anywhere

Amsterdam would be nice as well (not only because it's a city I've never been to..
As for street photography in Prague - I do now know what other residents would say, but I find it more difficult here than in other countries. Why? I am not sure, but I think people here are more close than in other places, usually the best photographic (and sometimes following talking) experience is with strangers and tourists here.. In most cases the typical Czech person just keeps his head down and hurries wherever he is hurrying to.. Just my 2cents, YMMV of course...

Italy or Germany sounds great. Any Bay area rff'ers want to try to make it?

I would pick Italy out of those two 🙂

London would be nice to visit, though the stories how police approaches photographers are not very inviting ...

If the event should happen in the spring I would prefer to go south (Italy Spain, Portugal maybe France ... ) as northern part of europe will have with good probability rainy and cold weather (forget Muenster, Muenster has rain subscription 🙁 ).

Great and sensible early planning Kully ! When choosing a location I'd be thinking of the weather too - though Barca was a little damp from time to time.

So, a reasonable likelihood of decent weather, easy air access, easy road access, indoor activity options, cheapish accommodation possibilities, a 'fun' town/city . . . hmmm. Before meeting the criteria we should probably define them ?!

EDIT: Also, best if unfamiliar to most attendees ?

I'm going to do some Googling 🙂

a lot of interesting suggestions!
but I kind of feel like we owe a little to kully for all the effort he put in planning and keeping together all of the past meets, so making it possible for him to attend in his first year as a father (and skipping some of the nappies 😀 ) might be a nice thing to do?
as for the weather: put on a jacket or let us meet a bit later than early april? (btw, I have been in London in mid-october this year, and the weather was very good plus ~12°C warmer than Berlin at the time).

I would rather go to Istanbul, never having been to Turkey, but if you do all turn up in London I would be delighted to show you round Hackney. There are loads of interesting things to see here, including the 2012 Olympic constructions just down the road (although you're not allowed in yet!).

I'm all for Dublin, if I may say so. I've always wanted to visit Dublin and this would be a nice opportunity to spend a few of my 80+ days of holidays that accumulated -- if they let me, that is...

[Hmm... 'days of holidays' sounds weird. How should I have phrased that?]

I've been wanting to go to Amsterdam for a while now, so there's the new guy vote. But Dublin would indeed be nice, as would Istanbul... What a helpful post 😉

You guys should go where you haven't been before. I've been to London many times, and Amsterdam/Holland once.

Amsterdam, Leiden, and Rotterdam are all on the same train line, but I'd recommend getting off the train in Leiden, and hopping around the busses around the small towns between Amsterdam and Rotterdam around the coast for some great photo opps.

we have had meets in both germany and italy, I like the idea of trying to have a different country per meet (and I guess most 'veterans' agree?).

Long time no see and probably even longer since I last posted anything here on RFF.

I was in Amsterdam a few weeks after the Florence meet last spring and even though there will be no Giro d'Italia there next year I'd still love to go back. Early May had really nice weather and there was a nice friendly atmosphere in town. It's also easy to get there by car, train or plane and a number of RFF:ers reside either in the city or nearby.

Istanbul and Prague are very tempting too but for now Amsterdam is my #1.

Kully: what happened to the tradition of you and me getting drunk and deciding on where to go the next year? 😉
