Lyyne, if you view the image that you want to delete, click on the "edit" icon beneath the image. On the "edit" screen, you will see a checkbox that allows you to delete the image.
I have become very familiar with that checkbox: there needs to be a way to delete multiple photos at once, because deleting more than one photo using the current process is very frustrating.
I don't link gallery photos in threads here if I can help it, because with the gallery size limit being as strict as it is, I end up having to delete photos, and I don't want to leave broken links in threads. I'm linking Flickr photos in threads because of this.
I use the gallery for the critique opportunity it provides, and like to look through and learn from better photographers than myself. I use Flickr because there's no effective limit to the number of photos I can post there, and that's where I send friends and family to look at pictures. Here I post photos I want other photographers to see.

To facilitate deleting multiple photos put them in albums. Then you can delete entire albums.

My strategy on deleting photos is deleting low-view-count, no-comment photos first, and there's nothing that would say that those would tend to be in the same album. I would actually be in a worse place, having to open a lot of albums, in order to see which photos I might want to delete.
The changes I would make, if my opinion mattered, would be:
1. The "My photos" link would take me to a view of all of my photos, no matter which album they're in. Right now, it takes me to a page of my albums. The "My albums" link also takes me to a page of my albums, only with a different layout.
2. When you click the "Sort Photos" link on the My Albums page, I'd put a checkbox on every photo on the resulting sort page, with a menu that operates on all selected photos. It would have a "make new album" option, a "delete all selected" option, and a "delete all unselected" option.
That would be wonderful.

Thanks, Greyscale. I need to do some serious editing!

The best camera is one that still works!
For deleting from my gallery I open multiple images in the firefox browser then run through them and open the edit function. When they've finished loading I run through them again checking the delete box and hitting the submit button.
It takes a minute or so to delete ten images ... I really don't see what the big deal is here?

When you move things into a gallery, they are still in the main gallery.

Depends on the definition of "big". Among the things I do for a living is design user interfaces. Finding ways to speed things up and reduce the number of mouse clicks and page refreshes and navigation hops is something that is close to my heart. Workarounds are OK, but awesome interfaces are better.

For me is my RFF gallery a place to share and discuss the results of try_and_error experiments with lenses/films/developers.
It does not represent the work I do seriously (like a portfolio or so).
I wish, there were a possibility to make a note or so in my gallery-profile about that.

I see the gallery as a place for a "visual exchange" of experience. Te evaluate reactions about pictures. To see what others are doing. I have a flic account but not really using it.

Good Question
Good Question
A few weeks back I decided to post 3/4 pics a week to the Gallery. I wanted to make a contribution because I get so much out of RFF. I hoped there would be some appreciation of pics I posted, some comment, and perhaps sometimes a recognition in 'Pics of the Week'.
I also hoped it would act as a stimulus for me to regularly take photos, critically making a selection and posting what I thought were the most interesting/best. The result would then act as a 'showcase' of what I was doing photographically.
My pictures are taken in colour so I also hoped in some way they would act as a foil to the large number of b/w pictures posted. I tend to take colour on the basis that I live in a colour world.
So far my pictures have produced very limited comment.
Several have been chosen as someone's 'pic of the week', and that has pleased me because that person has derived some pleasure from my efforts.
I am taking more photos than I was - that must be a good sign.
I'm beginning to accumulate a collection of photos all taken within a mile of where I live.
Posting to the Gallery has stimulated this.
