Thanks... Here's a before & after histogram showing what I did to that. The big peak of tonal value nearer the right of the first histogram that I 'threw away' on the second was the lighter values of the sky. I did that so the whites elsewhere would have a chance at being white! I need to work on editing skills to learn how to jazz up the sky contrast and paste it back in. Then I added a very slight sharpen edges at 20% and a 1pixel border.
 
I have to learn how to use PS. I am using PS Elements 2 right now and thinking of getting PSE 3. All reviews say it is worth the change.
 
I use (and the histogram snaps above are from) a $35 shareware program for the Mac called GraphicConverter. I have PS7, but one thing slowing me down on learning PS is just how good GC is!

I swear the Statue of Liberty looked a lot bigger in the Ghostbusters.

Rover, looks like you were having fun... I particularly like Untitled-30 with the twin stroller with snoozing kids and mom on the cell, and by dynamic contrast the big guy striding in from the right. Further, his posture is similar to the other man going the opposite way. Strolling and striding, but certainly nobody there is violating the sign's instruction "No Standing Anytime"!

I also like Untitled-39 which has the young lady hailing a cab. Or at least I guess that's what she's doing, since I've never done that, though I've caught a cab at a cab stand and phoned for a cab. Anyway, the poster hanging from the light standard seems to offer a more dynamic version of her hailing posture. And it says "NYC" which sets the stage well. Could a crop emphasize this connection?

The big guy striding in from the right is me. Not enough I ruin my photographs, now I manage to ruin Rover's. The ones I took are still in the camera; I will have to act soon.

Kurt I think that's an interesting and important part of the composition! I wouldn't call it ruined at all!
 
Kurt, had I been thinking I would have used you Joe and Scott as subjects all day. Every image need a couple extra elements to add to the composition. I saw your stride and thought the same thing that Doug did, it made the image.
 
Thanks guys, I feel better. However if you included Joe and me in a picture there would have been very little room for anything else. :p

My doctors are happy when I write a check. Between my throat (somewhat better) and my lower parts I have been writing a lot of them even though they are only co-pays. Found out my throat specialist's wife is a camera buff.
