Hi all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm Ronan living is sunny Berkshire (UK) and I've just bought a FED.

I'm blaming all of this on a colleague (who is lurking here and, I'm sure, will make himself known) who, taking a photography course and having been convinced by a friend of his to buy a RF, decided to bring it to work, where, somehow possessed, I immediatly decided that I'd have one too... A few weeks later and my GOLD FED-2e has arrived. It came with a ?-26? lens and I a now back to my "Basic Photography" book after years of only having digital cameras (IXUS and EOS 300D).

So far so good: I did a first roll which turned out OK though the camera seem to focus slightly behind the point where I want it to (apart from pictures focussed on infinity which were fine). The infinity in the rangefinder was also quite off so I've sorted that and I'm now hoping it might help with the focusing... Second roll is now in so I'll know in a few days...

So far, reading you has proved very interesting and educational and I'm sure it will continue!

Welcome Ronan! -- I like it. Your FED looks in good shape and it's seems you're already enjoying the other side of FSUs... learning their individual quirks and tinkering with them. Your lens is an Industar 26M, well-liked by FSUers.

Many happy rolls!

Welcome to RFF. There is only one word which can accurately describe your FED-2: disco-riffic!

The Industar 26-M is a nice lens, I have one on my green FED-2 (pictured below). You will love your FED - it's a very sweet little camera. Please post some photos when you can.

PS - Slough, UK...the real-life setting for the fictional BBC program "The Office"? I loved that show.

Bling-bling!!!! 😎

Welcome to the wonderful world of the FED-2! I just got mine this past Saturday and I love it already! Although, mine is a little more.... laid back... than yours is. 😀

In case you hadn't found it already, you'll want to check this site out:

looks like the fed 2 fan club is building. i just got mine too! came with the i24m.
going to test it out today! 🙂i like how its smaller than the zorki 4k or kiev 4.
if only i have the collapsible lens... that'll make it even more compact to put in my coat pocket.

Thank you to you all for your kind messages 😀

Well second film is now processed, and, ignoring the fact that most pictures are a pinch overexposed, I now have reasonable sharpness at all distances... The rest will be 1) me learning to focus properly and 2) making allowance for any shift in alignment in short distances (probably not worth messing with the linkage arm thing for now as initial test show that at 1.4m it is only off by 5/10cm).

More worrying for now is a light leak I seem to have which causes some halo right bang in the middle of the frame. Reading here and other sites, it looks like I need some fabric paint so I must now hunt some around here 😕

And who knows, soon, I might be ready to go and take picture of Slough in all its glory...

And again thanks, for putting up with the newbie 🙂

About that "few weeks" that 'orisbens' mentions:

On April 11th I ordered my second Zorki 1. Three days later I received an e-mail from the seller that it had been shipped - Apr. 14th. The mailman got it here on May 9th - three days short of four weeks. As I was away in Oregon, I had to go to the post office to pick it up. That was yesterday, May 16th. Granted, my absence caused a further week's delay, but I'm at a loss to figure why it wasn't here before I left.

On the other hand, another FSU camera I ordered arrived nine days after the day I ordered it. Go figure.

Hi Husard, and welcome.
I have two Zorki 4Ks that have pin holes in the shutter cloth,I tried black tape but its useless.
let me know about fabric paint if you find it works.
I want a Fed 2 now I have seen the Golden Oldie.

Very tempting, Is it for sale?

There are plenty of M2 on eBay (or perhaps here on RFF?) and the japanesque gold cover is from Aki-Asahi.

But... if you're willing to buy mine... name a price and we'll see.
It had a CLA a bit more than 6 months ago....

hi all,

have been a recent lurker since i purchased a фэд-2 (fed-2) as well some weeks ago (yay for fsu cameras!) and i tested it with an индустар-22 (industar-22) and 富士フイルム (fujifilm) neopan 1600 professional black & white.

i’ve never shot pictures with a rangefinder before (i snatched a leica m 3 and a leica m 5 from my father, but they cost a small fortune to check & repair, so there), therefore many of the pictures are less than memorable; but those that made the cut are great—the lens is great, and with the right film, once can make excellent pictures. i just bought a first-type-зоркий-4 (zorki-4) from ebay seller »confdntart« and await its delivery—i want to try out the юпитер-12 (jupiter-12) lens i got. good times.

Welcome cameosis! It sounds as though you definately have the FSU Bug. I trust you'll enjoy it with the rest of us. My purchase from confdntart arrived [to US] in 10 days, so hopefully you won't have too long to wait. Good luck!!
