It appears I will be coming to Richmond for an undetermined length of time for work in August. Are there any interesting old camera stores or photographer hangouts? Any areas interesting to photograph in the evening hours?

I'm shooting only B&W this summer.
 
I didn't see this till now because I always look in the Mid Atlantic forum. I run a street photography group out of Richmond. I am not sure if you are here still but let me know. I set up meetups when I can. I have one set for this Saturday, one for Roanoke in October and one in Charlottesville sometime soon I hope. Also one to see the new mural art here in Richmond a few weeks out.

I'm up in Fredericksburg and would be very in joining your street photography group and taking part in this Saturday's event.

Used to live there. While visiting friends in 2009, I stopped by Richmond Camera on Patterson Ave. Found a Leica IIIf and 3 lenses in a box. Paid $125 for it.
