I just recieved the 500G today and was trying out the meter. In auto the meter responds to shutter speed changes properly, but , in manual , the meter will only change by moving the shutter speed dial. The meter reading does not change by moving the aperature ring. Example- set at iso 200, with a meter reading of f11/125 , when I move the shutter speed dial to 250 the meter reads f8. If I start over with the shutter set at 125 with the meter reading f11, then move the aperature ring to f8, the meter stays at f11. The meter itself seems acurate as compared to my Sekonic 208.Any ideas on this before I tear it down?

Your Ricoh 500G is operating normally.
The needle will not vary with any change in manually-set aperture.
In manual mode you may use the in-finder aperture scale as a guide.

Thanks, got it, you select the aperature then adjust shutter speed until meter needle matches. I assumed the reverse could e done also.
