Those Vivitar rangefinders weren't made by Ricoh; Cosina maybe.
The Sears 35|RF and 35rf were most definitely made by Ricoh.

BTW the first Ricoh K-mount SLRs were excellent, too.
The Ricoh XR-1s was also sold as the Sears KS1000;
the Ricoh XR-2s was also sold as the Sears KS auto.
The 50mm Sears K-mount SLR lenses were made by Ricoh.

Do you think that the Ricohs were made by Ricoh?
The only Rikkenon glass I have is Sears branded and, by my understanding, made by Tomioka.
 
For over 50 years Ricoh produced their own full line of cameras and lenses,
though I'm sure like most manufacturers certain products were outsourced.
Their last film cameras and lenses were apparently made by someone else.

50mm Sears brand K mount lenses sold with Ricoh-manufactured Sears
SLRs were made by Ricoh, though not labeled Rikenon.
Other focal lengths were made by various manufacturers.

Just to continue the long, painful lesson I never learn...this cute little camera is a goner.
The rangefinder appears to no longer be coupled, the aperture ring spins freely without affecting anything and the battery compartment is a corroded mess, oh, and the shutter is a torn up mess.
I really do need to learn to read the “sold as is” as “sold for parts.”
On the positive side…it’s a cute little thing. I like the form factor.
The Sears version that is on the way claims to be working and comes with a 7 day money back guarantee. Now THERE’s the type of ‘bay listing I need to find more often.

Yep, "sold as is" means "broken". Also, "don't know if it works", "haven't tried it with film so I can't guarantee it works", and "It worked last time I used it but I can't be sure now" all mean "broken" too.
 
To add to Alan's list:

"I do not know much about cameras so please as questions..."

In about 6 years experience on eBay and over 300 feedbacks (sell and buy) trust me: never buy any auction that says ANY of those things.

Those jerks knew exactly what they were selling: a non-working, corroded camera, and they got you to pay over $20 for a piece of garbage.

Another type of seller to avoid are those, the consolidators, or "drop off and we'll sell your stuff" types. They're experts in the "not tested, sold as-is" but showing decent photos to give you hope....

Now, go get a Vivitar 35EE or 35EM, or Olympus XA!

When they coined the term "Dope springs eternal," they were talking about me.

I still have hopes for the Sears version on it's way. I'm keeping my eyes open for a vivitar 35ES or EE and I might take another shot at an Olympus XA sometime (the last one I bought had issues...go figure).
 
I won't bid/buy unless I can confirm meter and rf are working.
And even then I always anticipate the additional cost of CLA.
