Hello boiz en gerlz!

I was thinking, I need something smaaaal really tiny! to have it in the pocket all the time, but not digital, I want to put tri-x or neopan 1600 and shoot anywhere I go even in the toiled of national road :D I want prime lens, something wide, even 35mm is fine but I love the ricoh for its 28mm, so anyhow where can I buy GR-1s? or maybe you can suggest something else!

Thanks in advance!

Contax T3 also sounds very interesting, if you know a place to buy it please let me know...
Or even Nikon 28Ti, Nikon 35Ti....

Thank you bertil.david@wa! Unfortunately I have no experience on eBay, also I am not sure if I want to buy from eBay :D

Heh - I have the Gr1s and the 35Ti and they are both great cams. If you are after the more portable option go with the Gr1s(which can take an orange filter (Gr1s on only) if you can find the dedicated adapter.

The Gr1s has an awesome lens. The 35Ti is also nice , but a bit bigger camera. it probably feels better quality wise , and theanalogue panel on the top i very cool. If I was keeping only 1 it would be theRicoh....theres a (cropped to more like a 35mm FOV) image in my gallery. I have this on my wall as a 16 by 20 and its pretty good.

I've got a GR1s.

It is a great camera but as they are out of production and you're likely only going to find used copies, you'll have to be wary about potential problems that can occur with them. Both mine and Simon Larby's (also on RFF) had to have mid level circuit board replacements done at quite a sum of cash.

Luckily I was able to get the seller of mine to pay for it. Simon had to pay for his own as he's an original owner.

Do a search for "GR1s" or "GR-1s" and you're bound to find information right here on RFF.

Good luck in your search,
Dave

I have been thinking about the same thing ..and almost bought the Gr1s ...... But now I am leaning towards the new FujiFilm Klasse W .... I played around with one at one of the big camera shops here in Tokyo ...... seems to be a very nice camera

I saw the Klasse W on the Megapearls website - looks like a nice camera - but the only thing is, what is its size compared to the Ricoh.

The Ricoh is extremely slim and pocketable - I don't know about the Fuji though.

T3 is a fantastic camera - and so small it really will fit in a pocket. I take mine everywhere - usually with Delta 400 but have also used it for slide film and color negs and the results have been great - good enough for work as well as fun. I'd tried a succession of digital compacts but they were all horrible, the T3 is a great, usable little gem. It's the one film camera I would never sell... :)

Expensive though - if you can find one in the UK they're around 300UKP from a dealer. US price quoted above seems pretty good by comparison.

The Ricoh GR range have great reviews - but I've never used them. As have the Nikons...and they're cheaper than the T3.

Ffordes are a great dealer - got much of my gear from them - including the T3. Don't forget the T and T2 - less expensive.

Any one of these cams will be a joy to have...good luck in your decision.

IF Cambridge World is just a renamed Cambridge Camera in New York my advice is to stay away from them! They have a terrible reputation.

I have owned 3 three GR-1's and they have given me great service and photos. However, I was scared of not being able to repair them if they broke.

Therefore, I suggest instead a Voigtlander R with a 28 or 35 lens. More control over exposure and still rather lightweight.

Looking...

Looking...

Hello fellows.

Have also been looking and thinking to get a new compact p&s camera instead of my Oly´ Mju2.
Looks like the Contax T3 would be my thing, little expensive thou´.
The Ricoh GR-1 cam´s also looks nice and a little cheaper, but just thinking about the picture quality of them both.

What i´ve seen of examples of and reading about the CZ T lens on the Contax seems a bit nicer in colour and sharpness. At time beeing shooting mostly B&W (Neopan), but also like to shoot slidefilm.

How is the manual modes on these, manual focus, exposure control, etc etc, How about attaching flash. Possibility to attach filters and lens hood?

The T3 seems difficult to find, GR-1´s little easier. What price range is accurate?

Another vote for the GR1s excellent p & s - mine broke a year back and last time i was back in the UK i put it into Camera City in London to have it repaired. I'm due to collect it on the next trip down to London in a few weeks. As Dave says not cheap to repair but for me, i think it's worth it.

I just picked up a GR1s, adding it to my growing collection of p&s cameras, which includes (in order of size biggest to smallest): Hexar AF, Leica Minilux (non-zoom), Ricoh GRs1, and Fuji Natura S. The Ricoh is a sweet little camera. My only gripe: it's noisy (sound-wise).

How is the Fuji Natura S compared to the Ricoh? Lens quality etc.?

Well obviously the Fuji is faster. That was the main attraction for me, the f1.9/24. I haven't had a lot of time with the Ricoh, but from what little I've seen it's the better lens, and a better camera all the way around.
