Hello All,
My beloved Ricoh GR's flash tube is gone... it is visibly cracked. Does anyone have any hints as to its specs, where to source one (in Europe preferably) and how it is replaced?
I've been using the pop-up flash for mybe 0.3% of my photos, but when it is needed, it so nice to have. I won't be shelling out to have it repaired, but if it can be done, I want to attempt a DIY repair. I'm aware of the danger of the flash capacitor.
Thanks for anything helpful!
J.

Something like this https://www.conrad.de/de/xenon-miniatur-stab-blitzroehre-betriebsspannung-180-350-v-blitz-energie-8-ws-inhalt-1-st-542394.html will fit many compact cameras. Replacing soldered-in flash tubes is not very critical, you need roughly the same size (not bigger than the reflector case) and at least the Ws rating of the original.

Hey, unfortunately I haven't gotten around to it yet. Admittedly it hasn't been real a priority either because it takes great pictures without flash
I'm afraid it will be a few more months until I can try it. Hope you go ahead and post pictures, but don't get electrocuted! The flash capacitor can store lots of power even for a long time without battery in the camera, and even such a small camera's can be lethal under very unfortunate circumstances! So please stay away from it if you don't know how to safely discharge it.

Hey! i disarmed my Gr and found out the bulb is indeed broken, it has some kidn of rubber cement as a protection.
I've found a man that sends GR repair pieces via TaoBao. Right now my country has serious problems with the post office, you could try and tell me how it goes.
