Well, I couldn't resist... I am a proud Ricoh GRD IV owner.

I also thought I would let those of you who may be interested know I did a High ISO testing comparison between the GRD I, the III, the IV, the Leica D-Lux 5 and included the Leica M9 just for fun and to show how demanding we are now a days on new cameras coming out as the M9 in this test is OMG non-comparable (to be expected ;).

Anyway, hope this is useful to someone else looking into differences between the Ricoh GRD family...

This was very very interesting for me. I have the GRD1 and GRD3 right now and was thinking of upgrading to the GRD4. More dynamic range would be nice.
But in your comparison of 400 ASA shots, the GRD3 shot looks brighter than the GRD4. In most situations I use -0,3 or -0,7 stops exp. comp. for my GRD3. Maybe Ricoh changed that for the GRD4, so that no exp. comp. is needed? Have you noticed such a difference?

Hi wallace, indeed, the GRD III crop does seem brighter although I can definitely see increased D-Max with the IV, at least with my sample as I understand there is sample variance with this camera...

Confirms what I have heard/expected. GRD IV and GRD III have the same sensor. BTW, my GRDIII needs -0.7EV compensation most of the time too ...
