Ricoh GXR Clearout?

Well, my GXR arrived today from SRS, and there are a few issues...
1. No hot shoe cover
2. Slight damage to the GXR logo on the front
3. A little bit of gunk around the shutter release as wel as by the edge of the thumb grip, signalling a used body as
4. The rails look slightly worn and
5. They've written the box serial number on the receipt and on the manual, but the serial number on the camera is different!

Looks like I'll be calling long distance tomorrow!
 
I half price gas really got me. I ended up w/ the p10 kit, the a12 50 and the a16 zoom. The zoom has not arrived yet. Even though I have had the body and the a12 m module for over a year now... I had no urge to by into the other units types given the price. But at half off, I could not resist any longer. :).

So far I really like the af snap focus feature and the ability to dynamically control the snap distance via the "hold play button+front rotate wheel" w/o having to go to the menu again to change things. I like that u have option to use the configuration info from the body unit or the lens unit. On the body that I have the a12 m module I am using body but on te body I am using the lensor modules, I have chosen unit body, so I can have slightly different setups based on which lensor is on the camera.

The p10 has good iq up to 200mm fov but after that image quality is not very good. In aperture priority there are only two fstops available. After 135, u get 3 fstops. I was hoping for better fstop granularity. Since it was only 50 dollars more as part of the kit price and since I already have the evf, this is the first p&s small sensor camera I have that uses an evf.

I am tempted to pickup the a12 28mm fov as well. Can some comment on their experiences w/ it?

The 28 is nice. I liked the 50 better but I'm more used to that focal length. I'm not particularly good at composing with a 28. If you like the 50, I think you would like the 28.

Thanks for info... Pretty much the same for me as well... 40-55 fov is my preferred..

After taking pictures in more varied settings today... I can c ca and other colored related issues starting at 200. Hmmm. Even at low iso.. Shots look ok in b&w though.

HU - last order from Ricoh is not due until mid April

HU - last order from Ricoh is not due until mid April

I was on the phone today to Henrys about my outstanding part of my order, they tell me that the last shipment they are expecting from Ricoh is mid April. Until they get the order in, they have no idea if Ricoh has shipped everything to complete any if the outstanding orders in the pipe.

The guy reiterated gxr is discontinued. I wonder when any f the US stores are going to have a sale...

Thinking of getting the 24-72 lensor, to function as a wide angle, don't feel like dropping cash on a 4.5/15mm Heliar, although that would go on my Leica II's as well...

Getting, once I can spend some money that is!

Update: SRS were quite apologetic about it and they returned my camera body. New body arrived monday and everything seems to be working perfectly.

It took me a while to set everything up, somehow ended up having to set things up twice over.

It's pretty cool lowering the corner illumination value for some "authentic" vignetting. It lets my 35/1.4 Nokton render like it does on my R2 (what with vignetting and barrel distortion).

Just too bad I can't set fn2 for Mode2 focus assist when fn1 is Mode1.

Perhaps I haven't looked properly, but I find color ISO3200 in dim lighting without any noise reduction absolutely fine!
 
I'm struggling with an over-abundance of gear now. It's a great camera, but I have moved on to full-frame digital solutions for using my Leica M-Mount lenses (M9, A7).

You can get by with focus peaking and focus magnification for the most part - and both are implemented very well. But I like using the EVF.
 
Thanks & Cheers. Will give focus peekiing/magnification a go. I tend to like looking thru a VF as well.

I concur. Even if I have the EVF with me, I would often shoot from the back screen - the results are just fine.
