Ricoh GXR lens kit's listed as discontinued..

The Ricoh GXR camera body, GRX + S10 lens kit and GRX + A16 lens kit are all listed as discontinued. The GXR system was announced in November 2009 but since the modules where the sensor is located are interchangeable, it remains to be seen if Ricoh will decide to upgrade the camera body.

The Ricoh GXR camera body is also no longer listed at Adorama.

Looks like the end of the line for the GXR, at least this iteration?

I just bought a GXR + A12 M too. Oh well, i've got a thing for buying out dated crap. :rolleyes: ;)
 
So it looks like b&h is going to try to sell the remaining inventory at the normal price even though they have already listed the gxr body as no longer available and discontinued as well. Henrys had an immediate fire sale.. Their fire sale went so well, I was told that they are waiting on the last shipment from Ricoh to complete over 280 orders outstanding...

I not sure that Ricoh will continue this model given the lensor concept was not a big hit...until the a12 m module kicked started it...

I hope the new grd will keep Ricoh in the game. Make some money and w/ any luck a re-invented gxr series.

All set here for years to come, got two bodies and two M-mount lensors. Only one VF-2 viewfinder but I hope to find another one someday soon.

And, wouldn't mind finding a discounted or mildly used 24-72 lensor unit either, or the 2.5/28 lensor, or the 2.5/50... :D

I'm in the same boat. This little camera is the nearest thing to the camera I always wanted before returning to film - even to the point of not needing to expose the sensor or rear element when changing lenses. I still don't use it much as digital doesn't float my boat at the moment, but I took it out last weekend with a tiny LTM 25mm f4 color skopar. I couldn't be bothered using the viewfinder so shot blind in the bright sunlight guessing composure and focus. The results are really very pleasing and crisp into the corners. I don't imagine this being replaced by anything soon. Even if I eventually get the M it will still have its uses. At present, its a tiny, versatile, digital option to run along side my M2s.
NB I've also purchased cheap adaptors to enable the mounting of my Zuikos and Nikkors.

Did not mean to imply that they outsold the lensenor units...What I am saying is that the m module attracted more interest in the Ricoh gxr from people who were not interested in the gxr before. The general attraction caused by the announcement of the m module unit was what I meant by kick started.

Whether what outsold what, who knows..
