Ricoh GXR Up/Down Dial. Problems anyone else?

Hi,

On Wednesday, I am sending my Ricoh GXR body to Ricoh for repairs to the up/down dial wheel. It no longer adjusts the ISO, F-stop, White balance etc. It turns freely, but does not work.

Anyone else experience this problem?

My body is one-month out of warranty! :bang:

How unfortunate and inconvenient. I absolutely rely on the front wheel/rear toggle in Manual for aperture/speed with the 50 2.5. Missing one assignable function with M mount lenses is less crucial. But no, I have experienced no such glitches. On the other hand, I have 3 bodies for anticipating just this sort of electronic breakdown--2 for the price of one, thanks to the Henry's Ricoh massacre.

I had this problem about a year ago. Had it repaired by CRIScam here in the us for 95 total with shipping. Hasn't happened since. I have had three GXR bodies over the last couple of years.

I sent my camera yesterday. I should find out the problem by tomorrow.

I hope to get a detailed explanation from Ricoh Japan on the repair. I will let user know what happened.

Yes, a bummer.

To update everyone I was just notified it will set me back 12,000 yen or 110USD to repair. It is same price as buying a used one, so I will get it repaired. As least I get a guarantee on the work. The official problem was build up of dust and moisture, which created a small part to become defective. UGH!

Further update on the up/down dial. I got the camera back. The dial is 10-times better than when I sent it for repairs. I do not remember if it even turned and clicked as well when I first got it as new as it does now.

Now, I have to remember to use it more gently and stored it better, as the technican pointed out to my wife. 🙂

Glad they took care of it for you.
Mine's not had any problems, other than the coating on the LCD beginning to peel. I put a protective cover on it, and it just keeps soldiering on. A great little camera.
