Ricoh MF-1 Anyone?

I now make it a habit of bringing along a point and shoot camera with my Leica M6. In fact, I bring both with my Nikon D5300/70-200f4 when at my kid's track meet. Recently I took the Ricoh MF-1 along. 30mm lens. Pretty sharp. Build quality is plastic, but feels kinda solid in the hands. I don't know a lot about the camera other than it works pretty good. Either the lens is low contrast or the camera overexposes a little compared to my tiny Olympus zooms.

I was going to say this looks a bit overexposed. You can compensate after the negs are scanned you know, or use the exposure compensation on the camera.

When I squeeze the levels a little the picture looks a lot better. I hate post editing though. I'll have to figure out the tweak in Vuescan next time I use the camera.

Does MF-1 remember exp. correction setting after shot or even better, after being switched off and on?

I don't know for sure if it remembers the exp comp. The top knob can be turned to exp comp and it'll be at +2. I can change it to 0 or whatever comp I want to but once the knob is returned to A and back to +/- it changes back to +2. Here is a scan of page 38 of the manual that is about exposure compensation:



Can anyone translate this? I'd like to try out the camera again and use the manual features. But I''d also like to see what's up with the exp comp changing back to +2.

Have you tried it with the aperture control off Program? And make sure you have fresh batteries in it.
