It may not be 4/3, but something like it. Interesting times.
New Ricoh System camera to be announced soon! : We have received information from various sources about an upcoming introduction of a new Ricoh system camera. The new Ricoh system camera has presumably been developed based on a digital camera without built-in mirror.

This has been floating around for a week or two. Previously, people were looking to Nikon to come out with a Leica X1 competitor, but it didn't happen. When that fell through, the Ricoh popped up. Certainly, small form factor large sensor cameras make a good bit of sense, so I would expect this to be a growing segment of the market.
When I look to B&H, or Adorama I don't see any Ricoh camera products. Are they imported into the U.S.?

That pic looks like a GR with auxiliary lenses. Is the other below the Pentax?

Well, they were. I looked over a GR-1V when I was at B&H in Manhattan a number of years ago. I don't know what they're up to these days.

Dunno. It is certainly not a standard P/KA mount lens, that's for sure.

More power to them, APS or FF format, interchangeable lens cameras, that are also mirror-less are long overdue. It is too bad the marketing giants latched on a dead technology and are still pumping them out. Electronics; half done is dead, hopefully goodbye DSLR.

Interesting. I know little of Ricoh, except what I've read and seen here. In terms of the current/modern Ricoh, how much of their own manufacturing do they do, especially the lenses? I seem to remember that in the 35mm world their glass was pretty decent, but their bodies were nothing special. I could be wrong.

Ricoh cameras in the US seem to be available only at a very few elite specialty dealers. Not sure what the warranty situation is, or if these are gray market.

If I remember correctly, a couple of years ago when the first GR's were introduced, Adorama advertised that they were the only licensed North American importer for Ricoh. Of course that was two years ago and my memory may be faulty too.

Popflash sells Ricoh cameras. I bought my GRD from Tony a few years ago. Excellent design and best menu system of any digital camera I've owned. I would welcome a Ricoh mirrorless camera with a larger sensor.

I would welcome a GRD with a slightly less wide lens on it (35-40mm equiv.)...

The lens in the second picture is clearly a sealed, guilded, Nikon f-mount lens, although it does have more electronic connectors than usual.

Photovillage also sells Ricoh. Their GR digital cameras (I, II, and now III) are outstanding. They are probably the best built, most solid feeling small sensor compact digital cameras to date.

Photovillage and Popflash are the dealers I was referring to. It's unclear whether they are authorized dealers. Both of them have good reputations but I wonder how long a repair would take...assuming it had to go back to Japan... Then again this is conjecture.

They're also really nice in handling & ergonomics.

... likes film again.
The original Ricoh GRD (28mm lens equivalent ?) is the only digital camera that I really like. Impressive photo quality, especially in BW mode.

Ahh, make me laugh. When I originally did the search the first few items came up and that was that. I guess that I was impatient. Thanks..
