Ricoh has been around for years. They made screwmount SLRs, then Pentax K mount. They were definitely low end back in the day.
I'm not sure I'd agree with that. Their 55mm f/1.4 was supposedly made for them by Tomioka, and it rocks. A lot of their glass was excellent. I buy M42 mount Sears lenses because they're actually Ricoh lenses mostly, and they rock cheaply.

Too bad they wasted all these years, aren't electronic supposed to make things small. Have you seen the FF DSLRs, hardly smaller?
It seems like you have a very, very narrow definition of photography. If you are supposed to cover a sports happening with a 400mm lens, having a large, well balanced body with a good grip is a must. Only brainwashed RF-people seem to think that large cameras are _always_ bad. I love small cameras for lots of things, but larger, more ergonimical and balanced cameras also have their place. Optical viewfinders won't be replaced the next 4-5-6 years anyway, the EVFs just aren't up to it yet... And i still think that you will have large models, beacause it actually is important for many people. Large glass demands large bodies.
