His book is sitting on the desk as I read this news. So sad. He had a great eye for color and composition.

What a tremendous loss. Colton's work speaks for itself, but what stood out to me was his kindness, graciousness, and generosity. I think that character showed itself in his quiet, gentle compositions.

Colton was recently on my mind, as I have missed his contributions to this forum. I was inspired by the vision he expressed so well in his photographs and I'll second dourbalistar's recognition of his kind and gentle spirit.
Rest in peace, Colton, and glory in your newfound freedom from the earthly limitations that so weighed you down here.
My most heartfelt condolences to Colton's family.

He had such a gift for seeing. And I'm glad that he shared that gift through his photography.

That is very sad .
I did wonder because he`d not posted anything for a while I seem to recall.
We exchanged a few emails and I bought a couple of his zines.
Lovely chap .
Rest in Peace Colton.

Like several others mentioned, I was thinking about Colton recently and wondering how he was doing. I missed seeing his posts and his photos. He truly had a vision and a modernist's eye for form. His color is great but I really love his B&W photos and how he arranged the elements. So sad to hear of his passing.

This is a very sad news. So sorry to know it. I admire his work, I have all his zines and his book because I like very much his photogrphy style.
I exchanged a few mails with him and in his ladt he wrote thatr he could no more take pictures but still had not given uop photography, editing and thinking abourt new zines was what kept him active.
My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Colton, you'll be missed.

That is tremendously sad. I’ve had lots of online interactions with Colton over the years, both here and on Pentax Forums. He was a wonderful, unique photographer whose colour work gave me a lovely insight into a part of the world I’ve never seen. He was also endlessly generous with his time and knowledge, and his articles on scanning and Rollei ID have been frequent reference pieces for me.
A few years ago he contacted me asking if I’d be interested in swapping my Summicron Collapsible for his SMC Pentax 28/2 (the Pentax-Zeiss one). I think it was a dream lens scenario for both of us
He was one of the good ones.

Fine photographer. Followed him on Flickr too. His first roll in a Rolleiflex was impressive. Colour and composition indeed very evident strengths. He had a recognizable signature. Amazing lesson in how to pursue photography despite such a devastating disability, worsening.

I did learned a lot from his tutorial about Epson scanning setup. I admired his reflective way of looking at the world, through his colors and composition.
A great teacher. God speed and deep condolences to the family.
