Legendary guitarist Paco de Lucia, one of the finest guitarists of any generation, has died at age 66.

I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. de Lucia, along with Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin, from box seats at the Chicago Auditorium. It is a night that I will never forget.

Another major loss in the guitar world, so soon after the death of Jim Hall. But Jim Hall lived a longer life. What if de Lucia had been able to live into his 80s...?

One knows there are no deals to be made concerning anyone else's mortality, but even at 66 this is a great performer's life cut short.
