Canon LTM Risky eBay item at HIGH price

Noted a 7s with 50/1.2 offered at eBay, and checked description. I lost interest in buying, but watched, out of curiosity. Camera was described as filthy when found, and retaining a musty smell. Seller "doubted that it worked".

Camera was sold, with 22 bids, for what to me is an astonishing $465.00. I will admit to paying much more than this for a 7s, but it didn't smell, and it worked. Hope the buyer wasn't carried away, as this may be no bargain. With the smell and the non-working condition, I can only imagine the worst, as to its internal condition. It very possibly could be beyond any kind of economical repair. Why buy such a thing?? Would anyone else here take a chance at this kind of money? Am I missing something?

I would never buy an Item fitting that descrition for that amount of money. Furthermore, I cannot stand eBay sellers that do this. They offer a poor description of something they are selling and sum it up in a sentence or two. "Probably working" or, "Don't know the working status of this Item" will certainly not land me as a buyer and I am as astonished as you when these Items actually sell. All this does is tell the seller that his strategy works and he should do it again. I can't tell you how many of these auctions I have passed up because, simply, they're scamming you.

I saw and followed the same camera. I asked the seller many times if the camera's film advanced worked and if the shutter worked. After several days of asking , I gave up (no answer). I pity the poor sap that paid that much for a musty, obviously water damaged item. BTW I posted a wanted classified - looking for a near mint Canon 7 or 7s Randy
