What really bothers me about this is that, a few years back, Ritz bought out all the smaller photography stores in my area and closed them.
They did the same thing in my area! So basically its hard to find a good local camera store in the Phila area.

There is still "Camera's Etc." in Wilmington and Newark Delaware, but Ritz did buy the old "Camera Shop" chain, which ruined it for me. And Cutler went away a few years back.
There is always Calumet on Delaware Ave in Philly...

Right -- Chapter 11 is protection from creditors. So you can continue operating as a business without having people constantly calling you at work, at home, while you're walking the dog, etc.
Chapter 7 is liquidation, out of business, adios, au revoir, bye-bye.
I'll have to ask the guys at my local Ritz haunt. I've noticed that film there has been minimized, which should (sadly) come as no surprise to anyone.
I'm waiting for them to drop the price of the F5 they have in the display case.
Like some others here, they have the best quality processing/printing within walking distance of the office.
And personally, I like Ritz crackers with peanut butter and apricot jam. That would be a real tragedy if those disappeared. I hope those are recession-proof.

Sinilar situation in my area -- they didn't buy all, but they bought a few and then closed them. I'm glad they didn't buy out all of our mom-and-pops!

I too like those Ritz crackers. Hate to see them go. That would be a real shame.
I for one will be scouring eBay, stocking up on delicious Ritz crackers and storing them in my freezer.
You know, ever since I saw the first vending machines selling cheap, easy-to-eat junk food, I had a bad feeling that crackers would be soon be dead.
Our only hope now is that some ex-employee of Ritz will take up cracker manufacturing in his basement!

Both of the local Ritz Camera stores are now having a Closing Sale...
I had to visit one of them to cancel my order of film (45 rolls) from two months ago...
They only came up with 9 of the 45 rolls and have no clue when the others would be in...
I decided to get my money back and find another source...
The young man at the store was a bit upset at the closing and soon to be unemployed (I know just how he feels) and also mentioned that only a handful of stores were to remain open in the So. California area...

Several stores in the Pittsburgh area closed, although a fellow at the Ritz I frequent (and isn't closing) told me that the Pittsburgh area stores have been holding their own.
Years ago, when I was living in New Jersey, there was an independent photo store at the Quakerbridge Mall. The guy who owned it was sort of rude and didn't really want to spend the time to wait on me.
A year later or so, I saw that it was now a Ritz. He was still the owner and interestingly enough was still an ass.
