RLDB : The Russian Lens DataBase PART 2!

Hi Max,

just had a look, and makes for quite an interesting list. Big round of applause!!

Just one question though; I see the FED-50's listed as 3.5-18 aperture, but mine (nr. 9752) only goes to f16. Is that 18 a typo, or do they come in different max apertures?

Hello pvdhaar, I've entered what was supplied to me by the users, maybe yours is opening only at f/16 ? or maybe it's a typo... did I list yours also? I've got to check tonight, thanks for the info!

Max, if you need any technical help, e-mail or PM me. I do this stuff for a living. It's been a long time since I have used PHP. I have been programming web apps in java for the last 6 years, but I may be able to get you "over the hump" when something gets hairy.

Hello Kevin, thank you for your help, I'll contact you if I happen to bang :bang: my head on some code ... it's a long time since I've been coding as well, now that I switched to systems/network administration.. :)

How are your Kievs doing ? :)

Cheers!

Hi Max,

I haven't sent you the info, but here it is for my FED-50:

Number is only four digits: 9752
Type : collapsible, chrome
Apertures: 3,5-16
Close focus: 1meter
Coating: purple
Lens inscription: Фэд 1:3,5 F=50MM
(name in Cyrillic, focal length in Latin)

Keep up the good work!

My FED-50, for reference:

Number: 183799
Type : collapsible, chrome
Apertures: 3,5-16
Close focus: 1meter
Coating: purple/violet
Lens inscription: Фэд 1:3,5 F=50MM
(name in Cyrillic, focal length in Latin)

Basically the same as pvdhaar's. Hope this helps.

Nice database!

Just fine, thanks. The 4 still needs a back but sooner or later I will find one. The 2 is about to "go under the knife", the helical is a bit on the stiff side and could use a re-lube, I figured that while I had it open I would do as much of a CLA as I am capable of. The practice I had fixing my old 74 "Mark of the Beast (Serial Number 74xx666)" keiv will stand me in good stead here.

I am not sure if I am going to order a "new suit" from aki-asahi yet or not, the original is still in better shape than I have seen on some newer ones, if I don't screw up the original covering removing the corners to get at the screws for the heilical I may just keep it as is.

Thanks for the infos, Srdjan! I'll look this up soon :)

Kevin : I hope all will soon go in the best for both cameras!

I've been looking around a bit on the web, and there seem to be different versions. Some have 3,5; 4.5; 6,3; 9; 12,5; 18 as apertures, while mine has 3,5; 4; 5,6; 8; 11; 16.

Thanks Nick, I'll add it in a couple days. I've been switching to Linux and I need to tweak it up so that it matches my needs perfectly. Once this is done, I'll resume working on the RLDB project :D

Max, I'm glad you're making the switch to Linux. I'm using Ubuntu Linux now, and I must say I'm not a coder, but I'm enjoying the experience immensely. It's a world apart from Windows, where I felt shackled to the operating system.

Hi Max,

No pics, I'm afraid. All lenses appear single-coated. Cyrillic where noted. This exercise reminds me of transcribing title pages in college...

JUPITER-3 [cyrillic script]
1:1,5
F=5CM
[red cyrillic letter that looks like capital Greek pi - means single-coated?]
N5600709
old ZOMZ logo
aperture: 1,5 to 22
distance: 1M to infinity
finish: chrome

JUPITER-8
2/50
new KMZ logo
aperture: 2 to 22
distance: 1M to infinity
finish: black
legend on barrel in green paint: Made in USSR 7746226

JUPITER-9
2/85
N[cyrillic letter]7307541
LZOS logo
aperture: 2 to 22
distance: 1,15M to infinity
legend on barrel in white paint: Made in USSR

Thanks to all of you! I've been busy with several things (home furniture and other stuff) so I had no time to shoot, aggregate data or even work on the site design. it should get better soon however!

Industar 61 ( 2,8/52 ) with a range from 2.8 to 16
# 7177952, which would make it 1971, yes?
FED logo.
1m-inf.
Amber coatings.
Panda

By the way, Max. Thanks a bunch for getting me interested in rangefinders. Found a mint-ish Zorki 4 from a flea market last weekend for 20 euros. Came with a decent condition Industar 61 which I'm replacing with a Jupiter 8. Should have the Jupiter by the end of next week. I'm still on my first roll of TMax 100, but I already love the whole rangefinder idea.

I just might get a 10-pack of film. I get to use the college darkroom/chemicals for free. They have a crapload of the stuff and they don't really mind if I use it every once in a while.

Looking to maybe buy a Jupiter 12. But that's when I have more money to throw about.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this to you earlier, but I'll repeat it anyway.
