My Red Dot Glows For You
At the encouragement of Memphis (please read my PM, btw!), and having faced a wall of silence from them about access, I decided to stop by (literally) for about 30 minutes. It was hot, muggy, but overall the mood was nowhere near the levels some media outlets have reported in their 5-second coverage of the protests.
I went with my 35mm Summicron pre-asph, 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit (I), 50mm tabbed Summicron, and CV 15mm Heliar; I think at least 90% of the shots were taken with the 35mm Summicron. At least the first ones I've posted, so far.

great pictures and creative framings. Do you use 1/4000 and 1/8000 speeds a lot ? I would say so because I cannot get these bokeh at F2 on the RD1 due to the 1/2000 speed limitation on a sunny day.

Hi yanidel: yes, I was actually in that area (1/2000 - 1/8000) a lot of the time. I actually had to stop down to f/2.8; in the beginning, a few frames were getting "blown". All at ISO 160.great pictures and creative framings. Do you use 1/4000 and 1/8000 speeds a lot ? This is why I don't understand those who say that anything faster than 1/1000 sec. is "a waste". I like to shoot wide open, and stop down only when necessary (too bright and/or really get that DOF spread). Thanks!

Heh; it's one of my favorites too. I think I heard someone yell out (get her number!) right when I was aiming her camera, but I'm already taken (and was very busy...)

There are some really great photographs here Gabriel. As always, I love your use of colour.

Film is the other way
I like this one for the ambiguity of the shot. Is the man a protesting soldier, or is this an official of some sort holding a confiscated sign?
Gabriel, wonderful set you've put up. I'd be interested to see the 15mm if you used it.

Unfortunate that you list your location on you information as simply "here". Knowing where you were from would help me comprehend your perspective on the events.

Gabriel,
Excellent work. I am not in St. Paul but I suspect your photos do a better job of capturing the true mood of events there than all of the news outlets combined.
Well done - you show how a good photographer can make excellent social commentary.
Thank you for sharing!
