Robert Blomfield is a Scottish street photographer who was active from the 1950s up until 1999 when he had a stroke. It doesn't appear to have had any recognition up until now, he currently has a show in Edinburgh.

Appears very much in the Vivian Maier mold - someone who was almost had a compulsive need to document the streets around him.

His work is significant and distinguishable. Some photos are pure genius.
Perfect exposures and developing, printing.
I hope, his book would become available. He is real Master to learn from.
 
Robert was a busy man! Thanks for this post. I was photographing at the same time he was, but Oregon and California which are postcard locations just didn't have the same impact as his Scotland.

Superb image. You know I miss images like this. They are very difficult to get these days. For a start no one smokes as they once did. :) But more to the point super corrected, super coated lenses produce hyper "real" images that sometimes are just plain boring.

Whereas this image is like a song for my eyes.

In a modern photo, the light streaming through those windows most likely would look entirely different with the modern coatings on lenses especially when coming into an environment where the air has been scrubbed like that in a surgical theatre.

Well, I don't want smoking back (lung disease), but maybe 'old flare prone lenses' and maybe a little more dust in the air. And as p.giannakis says some old film tech.
 
Yes, thank you for sharing the video. Robert Blomfield's photos were featured in the e-magazine, Black and White Photography.

The chap she is talking to looks intriguing - art-deco Rolleicord, what looks like a rangefinder-less Leica, and a third camera I don't recognise.
