I feel like I have stepped into a “black hole” when it comes to finding any information about the latest Royals from Berning. I have found a companion to my Royal 36, an even later version with continuous drive capabilities, but alas has a number of problems. I have attempted to remove the top cover, which looks fairly simple by removing the advance knob and rewind knob and the 4 screws holding the cover in place. You would think that it should now come off, but something is holding it in place. It is not the accessory shoe as I have loosened it.
Does anyone have any experience in doing this seemingly easy task? What am I missing?
Getting any repair information, parts cameras, or finding anyone these days with Robot repair skills is next to impossible.
These cameras are some of the most interesting pieces I have in my collection of 25+ years, and even though the lens selection is limited, they are of wonderful quality.
My repair skills are limited but have “fixed” a number of cameras in my collection, but thank goodness the camera in the photo ( shown for illustration ) is working correctly. It sure would be nice to have two good working examples which are different, but this seems like it may never happen!
Any advice will be truly appreciated.

I remember the Robot Junior that shot 24 x 24 mm frames at high speed from a wind-up motor. They had some popularity with sports photographers for the ability to shoot action sequence shots. Willoughby's carried them IIRC. Interesting but never popular.

Thank you. I did find this to be what was stopping the top from being removed. Now find, I need a part for the rangefinder.
Robot parts are very hard to find and even broken Royal cameras, are crazy $$$.
The viewfinder and macular rangefinder are just one function, but the main function of the camera is still to take photos. Make good use of the camera, my friend. He can still take a good photo. If buying a broken machine is also expensive, why not buy a functional one? Try rocorder36, it's still a very interesting machine with a viewfinder
