I feel like I have stepped into a “black hole” when it comes to finding any information about the latest Royals from Berning. I have found a companion to my Royal 36, an even later version with continuous drive capabilities, but alas has a number of problems. I have attempted to remove the top cover, which looks fairly simple by removing the advance knob and rewind knob and the 4 screws holding the cover in place. You would think that it should now come off, but something is holding it in place. It is not the accessory shoe as I have loosened it.
Does anyone have any experience in doing this seemingly easy task? What am I missing?
Getting any repair information, parts cameras, or finding anyone these days with Robot repair skills is next to impossible.
These cameras are some of the most interesting pieces I have in my collection of 25+ years, and even though the lens selection is limited, they are of wonderful quality.
My repair skills are limited but have “fixed” a number of cameras in my collection, but thank goodness the camera in the photo ( shown for illustration ) is working correctly. It sure would be nice to have two good working examples which are different, but this seems like it may never happen!
