For those interested in the new M8, while cruising around Rockport, MA I found a Leica camera store called Camera Corner. Their main focus is Leica cameras. 
The lady at the front counter informed me that they would be having an M8 there from Leica in October. I think it was late October, around the 24th or 27th. It is going to be there for a seminar they are having. If you want more info their webpage is:

A rather better web-site than most dealers here have. I assume these prices are plus sales tax? Even so, it's tough to see the M8 being less than 4995 when you compare it with what else is on offer.

Rockport, MA to get M8 in October
The camera store in Rockport, Mass., used to be or may still be a branch of the main store in Boston...It might also be under new ownership...
For a number of years the Rockport store was fairly active but then, though it still carried the store name, it always seemed to be closed or dormant; the windows had not been cleaned in years...I never found it open...
Now, it appears from your message, that it's open again and seriously promoting Leica stuff...It's excellent news...
Rockport, which is on the water -- with lots of lobster boats, fishing shacks and similar exciting picture possibilities, including for many years, the bright-red painter's Motif No. 1 --has always been a great place for painters and photographers. But in the last 10 years or so Rockport has been overrun with tourists, to such an extent that it's very difficult to find a parking space...
I quit going there for that reason...
Much like L.L. Bean in Freeport, Maine, a couple of hours north of Rockport...You used to be able to go there doing the day and find a parking spot close to the main building L.L. Beans was all that was there...Starting about ten years ago, Freeport -- at 4 in the morning -- was lit up like Las Vegas and you had a very tough time finding a parking spot...Fast food stores discovered the place. So I quit going there, too, not because of the fast food but because the quaintness had gone...
My [grownup]kids still love Rockport: great lobster!!...
