Rodinal storage question

Hello everyone,

I haven't developed black and white films in quite a while and had my chemicals in storage. Today I sorted through them and noticed that some sediment has been formed in the bottle. It sounds a little like there's ice in the bottle when I shake it. Will this cause any problems in the development. Luckily the stuff isn't too expensive so if I have to dump the bottle it won't be the end of the world but I'd rather use up the bottle.

The precipitate isn't a problem; it happens with Rodinal, and won't affect the results the developer gives. Just be careful when pouring it so that the crystals stay in the bottle and don't get on your film.

Those crystals in old Rodinal/R09 is quiet normal. Keep them on the bottom of the bottle because that is the reason your Rodinal developer is still active. You can use up your Rodinal but without crystals in the working solution because they can damage the film emulsion. The bottle of Rodinal has been made of Silar, a high density polyethylene type of plastic which prevents too many diffusion of oxygen. Keep your Rodinal bottle on room temperature.

Never had a problem when crystals present in bottle...
