Rokkor 28/2.8M on M9

I would like to learn about your experiences with the Minolta Rokkor 28mm 2.8 on the M9. I took my Rokkor out of "retirement" yesterday, and I am trying to get a feel for using it with the M9. Has anyone observed problems? I recall from online reports on the Rokkor with film cameras that this little lens was well received, as compared with the Elmarit. I hope that being a 28mm lens, its coverage is still acceptable on an M9 to be free of strong distortion levels. My example may have a small number of white spots, but there are few, and it may be multi-coated. The serial number is written on the lens barrel and not the lens front.

I will today again use this lens to get some images that I can inspect. If I like what I see, I may make it the main wide angle lens in the next trip.

If you are talking about the CLE 28/2.8, don't know on the M9, but on the 240 it's one of my favorites. Small, sharp, no Italian Flag. Coded as Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 (IV) / 11809.

I have a CLE lens 28/2.8. I am glad that you find it to be an excellent performer. I code it as a 28/2.8 in the M9.

Why code as a Leica 28mm f2.8. Isn't that going to invoke software lens correction that is not appropriate.

I just checked the M9 settings. It is simply "28 2,8" It does not say Leica.

Thanks, Doug. I need again to clean the sensor! Maybe I will leave the sensor alone. A few dirt spots can be taken care of with PF, as needed. The cleaning process can move dirt spots around even worse.

Stopped down it is top notch, but do the OOF Areas look a bit mushy when the lens is opened up?

I took at sunset some photos wide open with the lens. I will inspect them. I will also use the lens tomorrow wide open. Have you seen your lens give mushy looking OOF areas when used wide open?

This image was taken wide open at minimum distance. I included the outdoors for testing OOF rendering.

I took more photos with the M9 and the Rokkor 28/2.8, The lens is sharp. I like it.

I really don't know. I just take the photos without dwelling on frame lines as I can see the results and then I make corrections.

On the CLE 28, and on all other M's 35/135. But it can be modified.
