I have just bought a Rokkor M 90mm to replace my CV 75mm f2.5 and initial results on a dull grey evening are very good.

I looked at various Leica lenses, didn't want the large though excellent Summicron or the (also large) CV Apo Lanthar and decided to go for this very modestly priced lens. Focus seems, on first test, to be spot on and lens condition , marked as Exc+ by Ffordes in Scotland, seems to be virtually unused.

I'll do some serious trials tomorrow but would be interested in any comment on this lens. It is a late 'Made in Japan' version.

The CV 75 is going simply because it is too close to my Summicron 50mm which is one of my standards. Good lens though.

I had the Leitz version of it (Elmar-C). Amazingly sharp and pretty darn small. A great lens for a good price. I sold it off after having bought an M-Hexanon f/2.8. The Hexanon was just a bit warmer and (even) sharper, but seems to have some close focus issues, and was quite a bit more expensive. I'm afraid I might miss the Elmar-C.

If you can live with f:4, the Elmar-C is hard to beat. Very modern compared to the old standard 90mm Elmar: strong contrast and sharp. Obviously good to travel with. It also works well on the Leica CL, being made for it.
