Congratulations too, George! Sorry don't know the lens hood ba myself, but according to the drawing, can't you clamp the hood on the lens and fix it with the screw attached to it?George Bonanno said:BYW: I don't think the shutter is loud. Yes the shutter isn't VERY loud but louder than a Leica Mx
Please be so kind and post some of your pictures. I'll do so too when my scanner is working again ...

Thanks fpr sharing your pics!

Thanks Reiner. I took those Sonnar 40/2.8 shots mostly with my Bessa T using an external CV 50mm 1:1 viewfinder. A bit odd combo maybe, but I don't have Rollei 35RF or 40mm finder.
More about the Sonnar 40/2.8 shade. CV calls the front of the lens ring also a small shade, but it may seem that the ring/shade is not removable. With help of the lens cap attached and by gently holding the cap and unscrewing it, the original hood should open and the bigger lens hood or filter is possible to attach.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the comments. After I got in earlier from shooting another roll, color this time, I did what you said Jari. The small hood came off easily with the cap installed. I was obviously distorting the ring and compressing the threads. So, now to install the hood... easier said than done as it would not mount. Taking a much closer look, there is a threaded rotating ring inside the optional hood. This ring had to be screwed inside the existing threads that secured the small hood. I originally thought the external locking nut secured the hood. It does not. The locking nut is only used to align the hood once it is fastened. Here's a pic of the optional hood installed...
Tomorrow I'll shoot another roll and see if there is a difference in image quality using the optional hood. Being the lens coating (HFT) is of a superior nature (compared to my IIIf lenses, 50 Elmar - 35 Summaron) I'm not so sure this hood is really needed. I hope to get all the film processed together over the weekend and then post some pics and or thoughts.
Best,
George

I love the camera and lens. i've also got a 25mm Biogon. Great setup. I hate to say it but I'm tempted to start a "How many use the 35RF" thread. There must be at least a dozen of us!

Maybe you should also ask, how many of us use the Rollei HFT-Sonnar 40/2.8 lens for LTM/M, which came with Rollei 35RF body?

I'm glad it worked that way. Waiting for your shots with and without the hood.

Here is my Rollei HFT-Sonnar 40mm/2.8 & Bessa T combo with 'steroids'
(new CV 40mm finder and CV LH-2 hood from Robert White):
I haven't tested the new LH-2 hood yet in action, but I think I'm going to use it in bad weather,
when it's raining... It's quite big and makes small Sonnar lens a bit bulky.

That is the same hood & VF that were marketed with the Rollei name on them. I think it is a very fine hood- I use it on my Summicron 40.

Yes indeed same stuff, but when there is 'Voigtländer' text on, hood and VF were a bit cheaper and easier to find.
