Hi everyone,
New member of RFF here. I've been shooting with an M3 and Gossen Digisix meter for a while but just starting using a Rollei 35SE. One thing I can't figure out: does the Rollei film speed dial actually transmit any information to the meter, or is it just a reminder like on the M3? If the latter, is the 35SE's meter usually calibrated for a particular film speed?
I've tried searching this and other forums and Google without much luck. Any insights would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't have an SE, but the earlier models adjusted the meter, so there's no reason to think Rollei would have removed the capability in comparable models later on.

I have one; of course it sets the film speed for the light meter.
It may be tricky to get a working battery. I have 3 GPA 76 and one GP 186 instead of the 5.6 V mercury cell. They just have the right size to fit in, and ~6 V (4 * 1.5V).
It works but I have not been using it much lately

I have one of the original Rollei 35s, made in Germany. Of course, the scale does set the film speed on the meter. I have given up on finding a battery. Just use a hand held meter or make use of your experience. Should not be hard if you use the same film speed all the time. You are guessing at the distance in any case. They are great cameras. They feel like a car with a gear shift.

Thank you all for your replies! It's been a really fun camera to use (and I actually have it with me all the time, unlike the M3...)
