Rollei Infra-red 400

Shot a roll of Rollei Infra-red 400 film the other day.
I shot the roll using my Voigtlander Bessa R3A, with 40mm Nokton Classic (MC) lens and Hoya R72 filter.
Developing was a bit of hit and miss, but I eventually plumped on a time of six and a half minutes in a 1+31 solution of Ilfotec HC (the only developer I had), and this seemed to work.
Not perhaps ideal conditions, a bit too much cloud, and quite hazy, but I'm quite happy with my results.

I did have a bit of trouble loading the film onto the dev. tank spiral, a bit of crinkling near the end of the film, and this picture does have a few marks because of that. But I like this shot anyway.

Very nice ! I have some rolls of this film still in the fridge and looking forward to use it soon. At which speed did you rate the film and how much did you compensate for the filter ?

I rated the film at 400 ISO, and let the metering (which is through the lens) take care of the rest. Seemed to work OK for me! I think the R72 filter is about a five stop difference, so if you're using a hand held meter that would be 12 ISO?

I have read that overexposing it by a stop gives you more of the 'bloom' effect on the highlights, but not tried that. Maybe next time!

Most of these pictures were shot at about f8, with shutter speeds between 1/15th to 1/60th of a second.

It's a nice film and much less grainy than the old Kodak HIE. And the lack of grain might or might not suit people's tastes.

Great shot, and nice IR effect. It looks like a film worth trying.
