Rollei Retro films?

It's true Rollei Retro 80S and 400S will dry absolutely flat. It's also true they both can give you very very sharp, smooth and detailed images. The other side of the coin is both films can be difficult to expose and develop and tonality may look a bit rude sometimes. Both are modern aerial photography films from Agfa. Original tech sheets can be found here:

I gather the 80s, at least, can pose development problems with high
contrast. Would developing in a low-contrast developer, like Diafine,
solve this issue? I never use Diafine with my other films but I am
thinking it might be a great marriage to a high-contrast film like 80s.

Not all developers are easy to get the right contrast with the aerial films Retro 80S and 400S. The 400S version is in most developers only iso 200 so you have to adapt the E.I. a bit.
The Retro 80S tends to a pretty strong S-curve in logD, especially in Rodinal. D74 or A49 are more suitable developers for it. Diafine too BTW.

Here an example on fiber/baryta paper of Retro 400S E.I. 200 in D74 1+15 5:15 minutes at 20C.

where are you finding RR that cheap? i normally see Tri-X and HP5 for $4 a roll and RRBB 100 for $5.

Its not that cheap in Aus. I struggle to find TMax or most other kodak or ilford films under $8. Most being around $9.50. Ive thought of buying online but i dont use enough to pay the big postage costs. Ive found RR100 down under $5 and thought that was good locally.

I guess I'll email the supplier and see...

The answer: "I’m afraid we just don’t know what the situation is at the moment. Sorry we cant be of more help,"

I think that says it all as far as 127 goes. 🙁 Hoping for some good news, but...
