Hi all,
I recently picked up a nice Rollei XF35 in good working order. There's just one issue that the name ring assembly in the lens barrel is loose. The focus and lens itself are secure, just the assembly in between these.
Does anyone know how to disassemble the barrel enough to secure this? I did remove the thin lock ring around the name ring, but the assembly is held in somehow. So I need an alternative method.

I decided to try removing the thin lock ring again and this time tried to pry the unit out with a small tool. Happy to report the name ring came out this time, and the only connection is from the cds cell wire. There are 3 screws behind it and all were very loose. After tightening and reassembly the barrel now feels firm and precise.
Now onto adjusting the rangefinder...

@p.giannakis thanks for posting Pan, that's a nice image. What lens hood did you use with yours?
I agree about the build quality, but it's a nice looking camera and seems to handle well. I have picked up a few small cameras recently that I'm trying out. Put a film through a Petri Color 35, next to try is a Rollei 35 LED, the XF35, Fujica Drive, and arriving soon a Ricoh FF-1 and Fujica Mini. The cupboard is getting full.

For the record, here's a photo of the rangefinder adjustment screws for the XF35, both located under the leatherette. Another thread describes the locations but without a photo:
rangefinderforum.com
The small screw near the viewfinder adjusts the horizontal alignment and the larger screw at the bottom, closest to the lens, adjusts the vertical alignment.
Take care to get the small metal covers aligned and perfectly flat before re-gluing the leatherette.

Rollei 35 XF Rangefinder adjustment
Hi Folks, I got this camera recently from a member here, and noticed immediately the rangefinder is not aligned properly. It's mostly vertical, but I notice at distant objects/infinity the horizontal doesn't line up quite right, either. I searched RFF for a thread and found one in answer to...

Hello, i have a similar problem with my XF35 right now. Except that 2 of the screws are completely lose. I want to get access to the screwheads but cant remove the ring with the markings "Sonnar 2,3/40 ...". How did you remove the thin lock ring? It would help me tremendously.I decided to try removing the thin lock ring again and this time tried to pry the unit out with a small tool.
