The prices of these cameras, at least here in the UK, seem to be on a sharp upward trajectory, with £1000 - £2000 being asked for better samples.

Some views on what is driving this, whether they are worth these prices and whether this is just a short term spike, would be interesting to hear!

Your views, please.

Rolleiflex prices are high for some years, it is no news. High end collector grade items are often bought in Asia, the real wealth is over there now. And they are still capable of taking fine pictures, so users compete with collectors.

Yeah, I'm rather stunned at the prices I am seeing, not just for the 2.8F but the 2.8E and 3.5E and 3.5F. Mine are real user jobs, so probably wouldn't get anywhere near those prices, but well above $750 is probably right. In other words, it's worth getting these repaired!

Best camera... ever !

Prices don't seem to have risen that much over the past 5 years -- $1000 to $2000 depending upon model/lens for a good condition Rolleiflex is about right.

mhanc, my post was about £1000-£2000 prices - so $1550 - $3100 US. That's a big difference. One 2.8F has just sold on eBay for £1599 UK - mint, but the accessories (prism, pistol grip, filters, panorama head and C330 (!) hood etc) don't add much value IMHO.

Still, a mint M7 without lens will be £1200-£1400 UK - so perhaps even at the current top prices for 2.8Fs, it is still 'reasonable - whatever that means.

Sorry Ray - my mistake on the $ vs GBP.

A VERY good condition 3.5F Planar (which is the model I use and track) goes for about $1,550 here at KEH. I would imagine the 2.8F is well north of that with more collectable versions being $3,000 and higher.

I agree, compared to other desirable models such as the M7, the Rolleifles' are still at least somewhat "reasonable".
