Rolleiflex Repair

I attempted what should be the most basic repair on my Rolleiflex MS-EVS. The knob of the winding crank was missing so I bought a replacement crank handle. I removed the pin from the old handle but for the life of me, I cannot get it through the replacement handle.

Is there any trick to this? Are there different size pins?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I replaced a crank on 3.5F in the mid 70's and don't remember there being any problem. Does the screw go through each one individually if you remove the crank?

No, the pin does not go through.

is the pin tapered? Did you try push it through from both sides?

No idea unless there are different cranks for different models.

Which model do you have? It the repair manual they call it a Zylinderstift pin. There must be a friction or binding in the slot to keep the pin from falling out once it is installed. You probably had to use some force to drive the old pin out. I could attach a pdf if I could figure out how.

Great cameras. I had a model II in college in the 60's.

I can't imagine a problem if it physically mates to the camera.

What I'd suggest is contact Camera Repair Company in Smyrna Georgia. I just sent my 3.5F to them for a rebuild and found out they're an authorized Rollei repair station. They're very helpful and could tell you whether there are different cranks for different models or offer a suggestion.

There are indeed different pin/crank sizes. For example, the pin/crank for a Rolleiflex T is smaller than the standard models. If your replacement crank is from a T, you will never get the original pin through its smaller hole.

If you do manage to come up with a T-sized pin, it will probably wobble annoyingly in the larger hole of the cranking spindle.

Off-hand I don't recall any particular way to easily/visually distinguish a T crank from a standard one -- except for what you have discovered by trying to fit it. Bummer!

Thanks for the responses. According to the seller, there is only one pin size. I will be sending it back so the he can fit a pin or send me a new crank.

I have both a Rolleiflex Automat 1952 (K4A) and a Rolleiflex T. When I measure the end of the crank pin they are both 1.5mm in diameter.

Their part numbers on the service drawings are also the same, 00754.82.0

Maybe the old crank on your Rollei is not an original one ?
