I finally talked myself into getting the Rolleinar 1 for my Rollei. I should receive it next week and I am looking to using it promptly. Anyone else using the Rolleinar 1 for portraits?

Steve Pyke is closely associated with using a Rollei and Rolleinar for portraits. I would assume a Rolleinar 1, one might think a 2 or 3 would be too close. His site is here
I haven't followed his work very closely but I loved his astronaut series. There was a video about him somewhere on his site that was OK, too. Maybe the Moonbug promo.

Yes, the Rolleinar 1 is really good for tight portraits. Invaluable with a Rolleiflex.

Can I ask how much you paid for the rolleinar and where you found it in have the same camera but with a xenotar lens and I have been looking for rolleinar 1 for some time.

Rolleinar 1 is perfect for portraits, I have 1 and 2 in Bay II for my 3.5C.

I agree with Gabor and Nick about the Rolleinar I, and use mine for portraits. I don't have the II or III, but have wondered how people use them. Are they useful, given the parallax issues, for macro-work, or what else are they good for?

I use all on my 2.8d. No issues with parallax and they work very well. Purchased via ebay, keh, and igor if I remember correctly.

Glad to hear they work well. I understand using the Rolleinar I for portraits. But what applications do you use the II and III for? I'm trying to learn what sorts of things a Rolleiflex equipped with Rolleinar II and III is specially good for. Examples or pics, please.

I use the rolleinar 3 for closeup work with flowers and other similar size items / objects. The rolleinar 2 is good for tight portraits, but I havent really used it much.

Excellent, thanks. I like the first one best. Convincing examples of how the Rolleinar III is used. I can see it, as well as the Rolleinar I (which is a no-brainer). It's the Rolleinar II that still has me scratching my head a bit.

P.S. For reasons that escape me, I suspect the camera you call a 3.5C is also known as a 3.5E. Kinda confusing. 😕 On the other hand, OP's 2.8C is a different model altogether. Go figure.

Thanks. The first one is by far my favorite, but I posted several as I thought multiple examples might be of use to you.
I'll keep scratching my head about the rolleinar 2 as well. 🙂
Just to complicate things further; you can also use the 0.35 and 0.7 Tele Rolleinars for the 135mm Sonnar of the Tele Rolleiflex on a normal 80mm 2.8 lens, as they are also Bay III. They will work and focus fine with the shorter lens. They're just a bit weaker than the: 1; 2 &; 3, respectively. I don't yet have the other Rolleinars in Bay III (although eventually, when funds permit, and I find them at the right price, it will happen) however, I have made the odd shot with the 0.35 such as this one I posted recently, which was recorded on Fujifilm Neopan Acros 100 in a 2.8C with Schneider Xenotar (Ilford ID-11; 1:3 @20C, 17minutes).

My Tele-Rolleiflex came with a 0.7 Rolleinar that I also plan to use on the 2.8F that I own. No samples yet though.
Close focus on the 2.8F will be approx 0.6 mtrs while on the Tele-Rolleiflex it brings close focus in from 2.5 mtrs to 1.75 mtrs 😎 That does make quite a difference though.

The Rolleinars are essential for the earlier Tele Rolleis fitted with the 135mm Sonnar if you want to get close. Sanders uses a normal Bay III Rolleinar 1 on top of a 0.35 Rolleinar pair to get really close for his stunning B&Ws. The revised Tele Rolleiflex fitted with the 135mm Schneider Tele Xenar can focus much closer unaided (so I have read). But they're not as beautiful as the original IMHO. If you have a 2.8 & a Tele I expect you'll find the full set of Rolleinars quite useful between the two cameras and together they'll give you quite a deal of versatility, which is my own plan.
