some people will complain if there are no forum changes, others complain if the new forums are not to their liking. And yes, there will be overage between forums, and people posting in the wrong forum for their topic -- that is inevitable.

I like having choices, and I was surprised by some who don't want to have more choices in the forums.

but I do think I went overboard on the Bigger than 35 forums. Will take a look at their activity after this weekend, and consolidate a a bit.

what do you folks think of keeping the existing the Photoshop/Darkroom forum since it is so large, but adding as subforums

1) film
2) darkroom printing
3) photoshop / similar software
4) film scanning
5) digital printing

I say split it into a Film forum, Darkroom forum, and E-Darkroom (or similar name) forum. Ofcourse, that would add two more forums to the site :p.
 
Don't those letters from a Mr Richard Feder from Fort Lee, New Jersey get to you? :)

I think the subforums for the photoshop/darkroom forum is a good idea.. but that's just me :D

i like this, maybe wet and e darkooms or traditional and digital darkrooms.
 
Good idea. Simple headings any photographer should understand when posting or seeking specific information related to the listed topics.

However, I think your idea of three sub fora is an excellent one.
 
I agree with Al, Digital Workflow seems to be more used than e-darkroom. What about a Hybrid Methods subforum which would incorporate scanning, traditional development, and digital printing?
 
so if I shoot and develop film, scan in PS, print a digital negative, then contact print in the wet darkroom...where's my forum? ;)

It don't matter to me what you do with the forums, but Todd has a good point. Most of us here do develop our film the traditional way, then scan in the negatives, at least I will when I get my scanner, but the point is, that the common method I think of most people here a combination of both wet & eletronic process. But then I guess the person asking the question will need to evaluate what is being asked and put in the proper forum.

ot: btw it's funny you menchoned Rosane Rosanadanas name...Just this morning I said to my wife: Your hair looks so lovely this morning!... just like Rosane Rosanadanas.I thought it sounded better than... Sleepwalking again and stuck your finger in the light socket I see!

Not to be outdone I'd like to complain bitterly that we have just the right mix of forums and that the rff is running rather well...lol

The truth is Im looking for as many resources on the printing side as I can get in both darkroom-chemical-wet and lightroom-dye-ink-dry process. In the past the forum was very camera orientated and its seeing its potential with a very diverse group of rangefinder users online. The single biggest area with growth potential is the process side of photography. This might also get the attention of some of the bigger fish in the paid adverisement department like HP or Epson or any number of process related sources.


It would also be very cool to have some images for sale somewhere on the forum, possibly a seperate gallery with limeted edition 8x10 prints or something or just a list of the users who have prints for sale and where you can find them on the net and in shows. Afterall images are what rangefinder cameras are all about.

Thanks for making the PM box bigger than the measley message amount it was until last night I guess- now it holds 100!! That's the best change ever to the site I think!

My thought exactly. There should be sub-forums for Digital, Hybrid, and Wet.

Stephen thanks for SNL flashback. Wasn't there a Radner character (a little old lady) that b*tched and ranted only to find that she misunderstood the concept entirely? Her punchline was: "oh...Nevermind). I forget the character's name. I'm off to google!
