I was hoping it was one of those "road less taken" kind of routes, but it's been four-laned most of the way. Kind of ruins the character by removing the old buildings along the side. So I took another road back, and it was truly less traveled, as there wasn't anything along the way. So I did my best with what I was given. Click the link at the end for the complete set.

To ruin Jack K......'s title: 'off the road.' Which was a horrible book, everybody that loves it never read it: I did. But now I see great pictures on the same theme, thanks.
Edit: I'm from the San Francisco area, and the joke around here is Jack was not ever 'on the road' he spent most of his life living in Daly City living with his mother.

I have to agree with you. But, try Dharma Bums. I found that as different as night and day.
BTW, Kerouak wrote On the Road in a little house very close to me in Orlando. It is now a bit of a shrine but still a old tacky little house. Interesting comparison to Faulker's estate "Rowan Oak" in Oxford MS or, Hemingway's "Finca Vigia" in Havana.

Gotta disagree. Love "On the Road". Read it, re-read it, then again. Still love it. To each his own...

Thanks, John. I've never read any of JK's stuff.

I've read both of Kerouac's books mentioned. Loved both. The Dharma Bums especially good.
I've driven 100 up to Pearisburg. Been awhile but as I remember not much to see, esp. after it turns to 2 lane. All woods but a nice river view in some spots.
