Plates for the new Ricoh GR? What do you think?

Another camera we have heard great reviews for is the new Ricoh GR. However, we have not heard many requests for a custom plate for it. We would love to hear from you and give you, our loyal customers, the opportunity to weigh in and let your voices be heard: Do you want a plate for this camera? Please email us at info@reallyrightstuff.com with your vote!

I realise most users may primarily use this as a hand-held street shooter, but there are occasions where tripod or monopod mounting may be useful.

I have a total of three rrs plates w/ grip..for my two dp Merrill's and the x100. Using a grip or rss plate for the gr is actually something I don't think I would ever do.. Just not why I bought the camera..

Btw thanks for posting the HU from rrs about this. Nice to know they are listening.

It is such a small camera. I can't see carrying a tripod with anything as large as an Arca style clamp on it.
However a small thin threaded L plate would be nice, especially if it could be screwed into place with a grub screw, which would still allow access to the battery chamber and fitting of the optional power cord ( useful for long time lapse work)

RRS produce very small bottom plates as well as L-plates for some cameras. The small ones are very light, only big enough to allow them to be securely gripped by the head clamp. I don't have a GR but would only consider a plate if I was likely to be shooting at very slow speeds.

This is interesting. I have the new GR and had mostly considered a small carry-everywhere street photo camera. But the lens on it is superb, and 16MP is plenty for making big landscape prints. So... why not. Lynn, I agree it might be nice to have a little plate for the bottom (no grip), and maybe an L option.

I just got my GR, if anyone has a recommendation for a plate that works with the RRS lever clamp I'm all ears. I think the image quality is high enough that I would use it on a tripod for some things since I do not have that focal length on a DSLR....

They may have a generic plate that could work, if u don't need a grip.. I would email or call them about it.
