I've owned 3 contax SLRs for nearly 5 years and never had this problem. I have the RTS I, RTS II and a 139Q.

I have watched this thread with interest, and checked the URL above on slipping mirrors repaired by heat. I never had the problem with the 139Q when I had it. I haven't used the FX3 enough to know. None of my 2nd hand FX 103s have the problem. I have them put away so I don't want to look. But I checked the 167mt. It has a cut out at the bottom of the mirror on both sides. It appears the frame goes along that cut out so it cannot slip down. Hopefully I will never see a mirror slip problem.

I have the same problem and mine is due to a sticky bumper. Mine does the same thing, it only sticks sometimes.

Wow, I'm now on my second Contax body (an RX) and it has the same exact problem. This must be happening a lot. The easy fix is 15 seconds of the hairdryer and me pushing the mirror back in place. I'm concerned that this won't last so long though....

Wow. Had one roll with my Rx and realized the black shadow caused by the non closing mirror which is explained in this thread. I was shocked how it was easy to fix by heating. How long will it last by your experience? I have an idea to stick very little hot silicone on the connection between two layers of the mirror. Upper one slids on below.
