Fed2 new émigré arrived today from the Canadian Steppes. I've never even seen one these cameras up close before but Reagan and other FSU users here have got me pretty excited about trying one of these bad boys out. I'm going to load it with some Walgreen color film, strap on a 25m CV lens & VF and see what happens. This is going to be interesting.

Congrats on the FED 2. I'm sure you'll like it. I'm starting to prefer the ones with a self timer more. The extra weight allows me to hold the camera steadier.

Can't wait to see some shots. 🙂

I have quite a colony of soviet old boys at my house. Although I love the Zorki 4k best, I do like the Feds 2 and 3 a lot. The FED 2 is very smooth and quiet and looks like nothing else. Hope you have lots of fun.

My verdict still remains that Zorkis out-do the FEDs. After buying several Zorkis, I decided I wanted some "colored" bodies, so went for three FED-2s. They come across to me as not as well made. I've had trouble getting the back off on two of them. Some commentators seem to say that the FED was more of an 'everyman's' camera.

My Zorki collection:
Two 1's
Two 3's
Three 4's (including a 4K)
One 5
One 6
One C, transliterated as S (On that one I can't get the lens to unscrew.)

One of the Zorkis came with an instruction booklet - in Russian. I find it about as useful as another set of toes. Instructions can be downloaded from various websites.
