Rust on blades: how serious?

I'm considering a rare lens at a very good price which has a working aperture but the blades are blueish and the seller explains it is rust.

There are no rust flakes.

What should I do?

I search on the net and read one post which says: deal with it or it will spread, another says forget it, enjoy the lens.

Rust is red oxide. They are probably blued steel like a firearm.

Take the deal and play dumb. If there is a problem in the future, they can be cleaned up. If they function now, let it be until there is a problem.

If you see red oxide now, walk away.

Autodiaphragm: very.

Manual diaphragm: sometimes, not as much.

But they're often SUPPOSED to be blue. Rust (red spots) is another matter.

well on a sceond call I got:

"the color is brown, not blue, not red"

oh well we'll see.

maybe I should further demystify:

lens is canon RF 50mm 1.2

Seller is igor camera

price: 325 including shipping

I've read all the views on igor and don't have a problem at this point. Overall he has some of the most reasonable prices on other lenses I have seen. Some say he is optimistic in ratings, others that he's right on, and still others have gotten stuff underrated.
