Not for me, but many of us know how capable the RX100 series are, and this update to it's big brother is going to be the only camera some people ever need.

Essentially similar specs as the RX100 MkIV but this time that big zoom lens is a 24-600 f2.4-4 (up from 24-200 c=f2.8).

I'm horrible at using zooms so I tend to avoid them, but even I have to say that's pretty impressive.

If it is still weather resistant, that could make it the all family take anywhere camera for amateurs.

"Dust and Moisture resistant" apparently.

I'm not in any way affiliated with Sony, and as I said it's not a model for my usage I'm just sat here going "damn!" at what they've managed.

Although I am a long term Leica user and more recently having developed an interest in bird and wildlife photography I find myself needing long focal length lenses. Most long lenses are heavy and even m43 systems are quite big and weighty so I tend to take them out only if I know that they will be needed. This led me to explore the possibility of a versatile smaller sensor bridge camera that could be taken on walks and outings. The RX10m3 fits this requirement as although it is quite bulky and heavy for a bridge camera at 1Kg it weighs less than a 600mm equivalent m43 lens and has larger aperture. I took the plunge and bought a RX10m3.

I am quite impressed by the quality of its 24-600mm equivalent f2.4-4 lens made by Zeiss. The i inch 20mpx sensor is bigger than in most bridge cameras and is one of Sony's best. It as at least as versatile as most DSLRs . I am not a videographer but it does have good video capabilities if needed. The main drawback is that it is expensive though at present Sony are offering £150 cashback in UK. I am still getting to grips with its many facilities but I find that I am using it more than my other cameras.

Not detracting from the rest of the review, but as a finicky comment - Zeiss more often design and license lenses rather than make them. This will be a Sony MADE lens but Zeiss designed and Zeiss quality-approved.

There is also the RX10's arch-rival, the very competent (and more budget friendly) Panasonic FZ1000 to consider. Its Leica lens is also amazing...

I picked up an RX10M3 a few months ago to be an all-around family camera that can do stills and video, and also to bring on my upcoming honeymoon. The quality of the images and video continually surprises me.

I agree that the Sony/Zeiss lenses are probably made by Sony. Many Zeiss branded rangefinder lenses are I believe manufactured by Cosina in Japan. Panasonic likewise manufacture the Pana/Leica lenses. I should have said Zeiss branded rather than Zeiss made. Thanks for the correction.
