Can anyone recommend a Canadian camera repair/service shop that does CLAs on S2s?

you can try International Camera repair on the Queensway in Etobicoke Ontario.
I never dealt with them, but i remember seeing two Nikon SPs that Stan Nycz repaired, that he had for sale in his shop , many moons ago.
 
in Toronto you can check out Commercial Camera Repair and also Kominek's
for a cla on your S2.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like not too much to choose from this side of the border. Sending cross border seems to slow things down a bit and duty was not a concern. I will just keep looking.

There's always Nikon! They still CLA the RFs.

There's also a Nikon OB who has a repair shop just near the Nikon factory in Oi. Apparently he's "the" Nikon RF man if you need repairs as well as a CLA. I'll try and track down his details and post them.

For those in Japan ....

Nikon in Japan still services the old RF and SLR cameras. They did an absolutely fantastic job on an F2AS for me last May. The catch is they don't do repairs if they haven't got the parts available.

If you need repairs on your Nikon RF or SLR, THE place to go in Japan is:

This shop is a Nikon "designated" repair shop, and is run by ex-Nikon staff. They ONLY service Nikon and will service and repair all the rangefinders and older SLR bodies. They will also repair F and F2 meters and motordrives. The shop is located a short walk from Nikon's Oi factory.

Not sure about up there, but here in Chicago, the folks who used to be the techs at the Nikon repair shop here in are in business for themselves and doing a good job. I had them do a CLA on an old Apollo FTn and it came back like new. Perhaps Nikon did the same thing up in Canada. Parts for the old stuff are the real bear (hard to find) and can cause delays.

The new Head Bartender's team did a great job on my S2 a while back.

I must recommend Pete Smith in Florida. He did CLAs on both of my S2s as well as a 35mm F1.8....really outstanding work, fair price, and I had the equipment back within two weeks each instance.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I think I have settled on using the services of Pete Smith and enduring the cross border shuffle.
