What frame lines appear in the S2 vf? If more than 50mm, are they constant or change with different fl lenses? Bright line?

Thanks,

Gerry

I've tried it. Because the S2 has a 1:1 finder, it's hard for my eye really see the whole image in the finder. It's just too big. Be careful at close distances as there are no parallax reminders. As has been said, the 50 framelines do not adjust for parallax. I use a Leitz SBLOO on my S2 and like the combo very much.

So, a 35 would be ok w/o aux finder? Thanks for the input.

I've tried it, but prefer an auxilliary finder. If I didn't shoot 35 very much, I might just use the camera's VF but I find I have to hold it really close to see the whole thing, too close to be comfortable.

The frameline of an S2 is a thin etched line for a 50mm lens, not unlike the Leitz SBOOI-finder but darker, because it is also the window of the rangefinder. When the glass system is clean, it is quite bright. The finder is 1:1 and has no distortion.

When using a 35mm lens, the best you can do is to use a SBLOO-finder from Leitz. The Nikon 35mm bright line finder is good, but the frameline does not anticipate on the distortion of the optical system of the finder as the SBLOO does.

The frame lines of the S2 are good.

Split grade print on ADOX MCC 110.

Nikon S2, S Skopar 50mm f/2.5, 400-2TMY.
