S3 hand grip etc

Hello everyone, and greetings from a very hot Andalucia, Spain. I’m presently using my recently acquired S3 and after a few weeks of fairly intensive use, I’ve come to the conclusion that it would benefit hugely from a handgrip. Any suggestions as to what might fit best?

I'm not sure there are any grips for S3 on the market. I have designed a 3D printed grip for Leica M and screwmounts, something similar is possible for Nikon RF, although the demand would be minimal, so not sure it's worth putting in the time...

Yes, I do agree. I may be able to modify a Leica one, I have a lot of toolmaking experience ( I restore classic cars) ….it may be a workshop job for me then !

That would be great, thanks, I don’t have my M series anymore…If the width was similar ( I think the m6 was thicker) it might just be milling a new screw…

I think you may be able to modify the grip designed for Nikon F, there are 3D models available online so you can check the dimensions.

Also the bottom plate is very similar on the F2, and I do have a 3D printed one for this model so tomorrow I'll see how it fits.

I did find a 3 d printed one as you describe, might work, thank you very much, I’d be interested in this approach

adjusting the 3D model should be pretty easy, just make it shorter in every dimension 😉

BTW the grip for Leicas won't be of any use because of the screw position.

Not sure I'd trust that grip with an S3... 😳

SLS (selective laser sintering) is a much better method for 3D printing for this type of product. It uses Nylon 12 (same material as used in products like ski boots) so it's not brittle like the plastic used in hobby printers for FDM prints.

The M grip actually just needs a few minor CAD changes to fit the SP.
